This close-up centers on Merope and Alcyone, showcasing how their intense blue light sculpts the surrounding dust into directional filaments and layered arcs: Around Merope, the NGC 1435 reflection nebula shows fine, radially oriented striations; Near Alcyone, a bright core transitions into a broad, diffuse blue curtain with gentle, outward gradients; IC 349 appears only as a faint ghost and is not the subject of this image. The goal is to highlight the morphology of light–dust interaction: preferential scattering of blue light by sub-micron grains produces crisp, directional textures—filaments, rim-like arcs, and soft dust veils—that define the Pleiades at close range. #TeamNoctuaDSNM
