I recently started using the trial version of Pixinsight. I have already been able to integrate several scripts, but I failed to integrate Graxpert. Is that even possible and if so, how does it work?
I would be very happy about a tip.

As far as I know, there is only the stand alone version

I exported a 32bit tif, processed it in GraXpert and then opened the processed file in Pixinsight for futher processing
Randy Smith avatar
Yes, its stand alone.   Open your stacked master light in Graxpert, process it and save as XSIF and open it in PI.

If you install this package https://www.ideviceapps.de/PixInsight/Utilities/ they have added GraXpert under scripts/toolbox

Thanks Gary, learned something new

But this is not the phantastic Beta-Version with AI yet, I presume?

The script just opens the Graxpert-Version  you have installed.

I had to download the latest beta version and ran it which in turn downloaded the AI files that GraXpert needed automatically, I then pointed PixInsight to the "GraXpert.exe" file and ran it on my image

Thanks Gary for your very helpful instructions, everything worked. Now I also have Graxpert integrated.

Let me add a little bit of insight to this:

The lastest version of GraXpert now supports a CMD-Mode.
That's exactly what the Script from Jürgens Utilities (https://www.ideviceapps.de/PixInsight/Utilities/) use.

It opens GraXpert via CMD and it then automatically launches a gradientremoval based on AI (only this is possible in the CMD-Mode).
After that the Script loads the processed image back in PixInsight.

If it does not support the CMD-Mode (aka you've got an old GraXpert version), it just open GraXpert normally.

If you want the convinient mode, with you setting the sample-points, you still need to open GraXpert outside of PixInsight.

I downloaded that repository but have no toolbox

I downloaded that repository but have no toolbox

You have to add the URL in PixInsight under the menu "Resources - Updates - Manage Repositories". The usual way to handle repositories. Finally the toolbox is located under Scripts - Utilities.

I cannot save the master light edited in Graxpert as a xisf file, only with the suffix tiff.

Once you open a tiff in PI you can save it as xisf.

Correction: I just loaded the repository and pointed to the graxpert app and it now saves in .xisf.

I have been very impressed with GraXpert AI. I think it does a better job at removing gradients than DBE/ABE, but yesterday the PixInsight developers announced their new project MARS (Multiscale All-Sky Reference Survey). I am interested to see how this new project will evolve over time and how it will perform, but for now I will continue to use GraXpert AI until it releases.

In relation to the forum post, I don't mind using the standalone app as it can save the corrected images as .xisf files which I can import to PixInsight to further process.

Hi all,

Here is another script for GraXpert in PixInsight:
https://github.com/AstroDeepSky/GraXpert4PixInsight

Astrometric data are restored after gradient removal :-)
You have a full control of GraXpert options.

I need feedback on Linux plateform.
You can report issue in GitHub or put a star.

Enjoy Vega star release!

Hi all,  I've updated PI, Installed GraXpert4PixInsignt, updated the Repository, checked for updates, installed the updates, restarted PI, Run GraXpert from Scripts/Toolbox, pointed GraXpert to its Application, Run GraxPert .  I get the following...

Thoughts?

Problem reported by some others users on different systems.
For instance: https://github.com/Steffenhir/GraXpert/issues/65
You should have same problem when you run UI (I mean run GraXpert from MacOS not from PixInsight script).

GraXpert team is working on a new installable package with high priority but it takes time an delay next feature.
I'll keep you posted if I have some news.

Ah ok,  Thank you.

All of a sudden Graxpert is refusing to start on my mac it was working perfectly until the last hour for no reason at all, despite restarting and despite reinstalling, it just hangs on startup I've done nothing differently
Sorted apprently GraXpert server was down so AI wasnt loading creating a feedback loop
