I noticed in the past few months, that I have to keep turning up the gain higher and higher on my guider camera. It's 3yrs old now, it's the asi120mm mini.
First I thought the lens or the sensor were dirty, but I cleaned it and I get the same results .
Basically I can keep turning up the gain to anything, only the background (the sky darkness) brightens up while the stars remain same faint.
I tried it with 3 different guider scopes, including a 60mm F4 and the results are the same. The stars remain faint looking and the minimum exposure for asiair not to lose the star is like 3 seconds.
I posted a similar post to ZWO and I got a dismissive reply that "I don't know how to use the camera".
Really… I've been imaging for 3 years and taken close to a 100 DSO images so just maybe I know how to use a guide camera, including Asiair, NINA, APT, Ekos.
What do you think?
Anyone had similar issues? Is there anything I can do with it or is the sensor is going out and soon I will have to throw it away?
