Hello fellow astrophotographers!
I've got a dew heater strip connected to my 4" refractor. and the strip is getting power from one of the DC outputs on the ASIAIR . Last night around 11:30pm the temperature outside hit the dew point, and given that I live in San Francisco, which has moist air, I turned on the dew heater, setting it at 75%.
But when I was done imaging for the night I noticed a fair amount of dew in the center of my objective lens. I felt the dew heater strip and it was barely warm. I don't think the problem is with the strip, because I've tested it indoors and it's more than capable of getting very hot. I think it's the ASIAIR, it doesn't seem to be powering the dew strip sufficiently. I have the ASIAIR getting its power directly from a powerful 12V battery, so I know that the ASIAIR is receiving ample power, it just isn't outputting it.
If I can't resolve this, what is the best option? To power the dew strip with a separate battery and dew heater controller (urg! more stuff to set up).
PS. The asiair was powering an ASI2600MC camera, 2 dew strips and an ASI220 guide camera. It should be able to handle these devices without a problem..
Thanks,
Jerry
