Will it ever end?

Tube sizes, thread sizes, backfocus, pixel size…

I finally unboxed my edge hd 8, installed the 0.7 reducer, the celestron oag (sooooo much better than the zwo one).
Next was the 11mm celestron extension. Which is knurled. Why isn’t every extension tube knurled?
Then came the filter wheel and camera. Backfocus looks good!

Now I find out that the asi120mm mini isn’t good enough to find stars.

Ugh!  More money!

Just ranting.  I wish the retailer would discuss this stuff, suggest workable combinations before you drive 50km hone and waste a precious clear night lol.

Pre-purchase research is a wonderful thing ;).

There’s a reason why people call it a rabbit hole…

As already said: a proper pre-purchase investigation is helpful but in addition, there will always be issues in one and another form which requires a careful process of identifying issues and solution development.

What usually never works is to simply sell the stuff which doesn’t work and replace it through another purchase.

Yes it will. You are mortal.  Astronomy, on the other hand, will never end..   Take comfort from being a torch bearer for this beautiful pursuit, albeit for a short time.  [And don't sweat the small stuff. ]

I've got the same problem, I can research all I want, literally weeks or months. As soon as I hit purchase a way better option jumps out at me which I somehow never seen before.
I have no idea why I still enjoy this hobby but just can't stop. it's just so amazing and so addicting.

The thing is, once you get that set up dialed in you'll want a wide field set up. Then you'll want to take down a couple trees to open up a portion of sky. Then maybe a solar set up. Finally an observatory.
