UV/IR Cut filters with RC telescopes

I was reading somewhere that a UV/IR filter is not required for a pure reflector system, could someone shed some light on this for me? Thankyou.

Yes, that is true for all reflector scopes. But if you want to put any sort of lense (like a reducer or something else) into the pathway of the light, i would recommend an IR/UV-cut filter.

Might it be that a flattener does not bend the light that much and therefore could be used without UV/IR cut filter?

Also, I see from specifications that the mirrors really do not reflect much at lower NIR wavelengths.
