How to Create a Red Screen on Android Tablet

Hi,

I'm planning on going to the Golden State Star Party in a few weeks and don't want to annoy any observers or imagers with my tablet's screen.  Is there an app that can turn the screen red, as Stellarium has built into it?  I use ASIAIR Plus but as far as I know the software doesn't have the capacity to change to dark red to preserve night vision.

Is there an app, preferably without ads, that can do this?

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,

On my Android cell phone (Samsung Galaxy Note10+) I use an app called "Twilight: Blue light filter" by Urbandroid.  You can find it in the Play Store.
I set the color temperature to the far left (1000K Relaxing), set the Intensity to 60%, and the Screen Dim to 35%.

You can set a widget on your home page and just tap it when you want to activate/deactivate "Twilight."

It works the best of any Android app I've tried for making the screen red.

Hope it works for you on your tablet.

You can also try an internal Android setting: Accessibility > Visiblity enhancements > Colour Filter.  Select the colour and opacity and if you want to have a shortcut (I use the Accessibility button at the bottom of the screen). Simple and effective.

I tried that first but I don't have that setting.  My phone is running Android 13 and though it has Accessibility-Visibility enhancements, there is no color filter option.  There's an option called "color correction" but that doesn't seem to do what I need.  The app I downloaded called Twilight does.
