Hi everyone, signed up today. Came into this from a photography background and have been at the astro bug now for the last few weeks at the expense of my normal photography avenues which were primarily wildlife and macro related. With everything going on with Covid19 it is a good match as now confined to the back yard along with most of the rest of you I would imagine 😔! I initially set up with an iOptron Skyguider Pro on a good carbon tripod with a WO Z61 and a Nikon D810 with a wireless intervalometer. I then quickly upgraded the wedge to the WO version, added a UHC filter, a red dot and dew band. Learnt the basics and watched as many videos on Youtube as I could (thanks Astrobackyard and Galactic Hunters 👍) and have since opted for the HEQ5 Pro mount with Rowan belt mod, a few extra filters (L Pro and L enhance), decent power supply (Deben Tracer LiFePO4 16AH), WO 50mm guide scope and ZWO minicam and am now awaiting delivery of an ASIair Pro and WO GT81 to complete a second 'heavier' setup. I have a Nikon D500 and D850 too so will play about with all the bodies to work on which is the best for astro until I inevitably invest in a cooled dedicated camera 😁.

I live in west Wales where I have access to class 3 skies from the garden and class 2 within  a short drive. During the week I work in south England and am under class 4 skies from the garden.

Absolutely love taking photos of things I cannot see only to watch them emerge from the screen a few hours later with glorious colour and detail. I am not happy with the images I am generating at the moment but my macro detail driven photography will push me towards refining this as much as I can.

Hope to connect with many of you to learn what will be a massive amount on a steep curve so please bare with my daft questions for now 😀

Hope you are all well and coping with the Covid19 situation as it develops. Stay safe and clear skies.
