Issue with nina/altair hypercam 294c protec - Forums

Hi,
i have an issue.
I used to use a rpi 4 with ekos and recently switched to mele quieter 3q with nina installed on it. happy with the hardware upgrade BUT … everything works fine except taking subs. If I do a test shot of lets say 15s it does not work at time. eg. 3 shots 15s OK and than it takes a sub second shot for some reason. I see nothing in the debug logs. The camera connected is an altair hypercam 294c Protec. also in the sequence I get black subs at times.

anyone an idea?
already checked the cables and so.. use a different usb3 port. etc. I did install drivers.

Does it occur with Altair's own software as well? Other than this check I'd look at what NINA is using to connect to the camera; is it via ASCOM or native drivers?

Nina is using native drivers… I'll test with altair software now
also tried different computer with another usb3 cable same result

the altair software is not so great… but I don't see any issues
I looked at the system performance where nina is running.. also there nog disk/mem issues

Then the issue is in NINA handling of the hardware. You could try using the ASCOM drivers and see how it goes but this is a less than ideal situation to be in. I'll also head for the NINA discord and present your issue. They are usually responsive to such hardware handing issues.

I have opened an issue with Altair… this kind of sucks because its the only camera I own…
I think I have tried everything
- cables
- drivers
- different computers….
