Hi, have to buy a ASI camera for my Celestron C8, is there anybody some have a good feeling about a Camera with good sensorsice and perform good quality, have to go coulor not mono yet, think it to difficault for me and take a longer  time to process. I have some filter too, L-extreme mm. Have a ASIAIR

Hello Peter,

Both the ASI533MC and ASI2600MC have a 3.76um pixel size, which would be at (albeit somewhat aggressive) an appropriate pixel scale.

The "533" has an 11.3mm square sensor, and the "2600" is APS-C sized.  I own both.  Both are capable of capturing fine images (all other factors being equal).

It then becomes a matter of what type / size target you want to capture.  The Field of View on the "533" (with a .7x Reducer) would be a little less than 1/2°, but the camera is 1/2 the cost of the "2600."  That's a fairly small FOV, which then requires accurate guiding.

I think the C8 can accommodate a 2" visual / photographic back.  The "2600" would then (with the .7x Reducer) yield (roughly) a .94x.63° FOV, still requiring a stable mount and accurate guiding.

I hope this helps,

Jay

Hello Peter,

both cameras a nice cameras with an advantage to asi2600mc pro. This one has a higher resolution and I think is newer model than the asi533mc.
But...I would recommend to take another asi camera - the asi294mc pro. This camera has 4.63 um pixel size and does a nice job too.
The pixel size is important for longer telescopes like the C8. As Jay already have mentioned the guiding with an asi2600mc por camera must be very very accurate and you risk more troubles then fun....even it is for sure possible to use it with a C8.
At astrotools https://astronomy.tools/calculators/ccd_suitability  you see the differents, if you will check ccd_suitability tool.
I have a C8 and use a starizona 0,63 reducer togehter with my asi294mc pro and it works very well.

wish you a lot of fun with your C8 and CS

Thanks to comments, i have use this sunday morning to understand pixelsize and resolution, very understanding in Astronomy tools. I think the 294 is the best choise for me. Thanks a lot to both of you.

Hello Peter,

I think this is the right decision, but even so you will need a good mount.

Wish you a lot of fun

I have the ASI294MC Pro and the ASI533 MC. Both work well with the C8 and 0.63 reducer. The ASI533 is very nice for symmetric targets.

You'll also want a planetary camera perhaps. I suggest the ASI662MC which replaces ASI462MC or also the ASI224MC.

Hi, yes i see that the 533 have a nice kvadratic look. For planetary i have the 224 and it works well. My mount is eq 6 pro and it works perfect. Maybe i have to bye a better guidescope, only 170mm focallengd just now.
Thanks Peter
