I am setting up an EdgeHD 8 for AP and need to up-grade my iEQ30 Pro mount.
Question: Is the lower tracking error from the "EC" version or the iOptron CEM45EC worth the higher price compared to the CEM45?  To me, the APEC of the non EC version seems pretty typical.

After researching the forums on the -EC version of iOptron mounts, they appear to be a work in progress so maybe some other time.  The error control and capacity of the CEM60 coupled with the Tri-Pier should give me a solid platform for my Edge HD 800 or more to do guided imaging.  Currently I have a Moonlight CHL focuser with motor, filter wheel, OAG, guide camera, imaging camera and finder tipping my scale at > 20 Lbs.  My poor little iEQ30 was great for visual, but imaging is a dangerous game for the wallet smile

I'll leave this up for reference and future comments, clear skies!

I agree.  The implementation of precision encoders on the iOptrons is pretty rudimentary.  I skipped it when I bought my CEM60.
