Hi everyone, new to Astro photography in the north Texas area. Typically travel South West or towards new mexico to find some really dark skies. I find myself spending much less time in the bars and much more time under the Texas night sky  smile  Currently using a basic DSLR attached to an 80mm apo. no fancy CMOS/ CCD yet, but feeling that is coming in 2020.

Hello from central Texas! Near Cisco. You can do alot with a DSLR and an 80mm scope, great place to start.

Hi Michael,

"Less time in the bars…", one of the best self-introductions. Reckon, this is a most positive desision :-)

Here as well, started with Ø80mm and a low-end stock DSLR, over a year ago, still using this gear with minor updates and absolutely without regrets. My ASI290MM CMOS is for future auto-guiding tasks and lunar imaging. I take DSOs with the DSLR only without need for firing up a PC.

Anyway, it is good to see you here.

Cheers
Robert
