Possible (rational) to build your own electronic camera rotator?

Well, i would like to have an electronic camera rotator but i don’t want to pay +600 bucks for a thing that simply rotates my camera. 

i own a esprit 120 and therefore already have a option to rotate my cam manually. 
If anyone of you guys knows or can think of a cheap diy way of making my manual rotator working automatically it would be great.

It has been done in the past, at least I seem to remember reading about it on the OnStep mailing list. I could make one for sure, given time and patience, it ain't terribly that difficult. Finding the components might be, if you aren't into maching/3D printing.
