Kozmosi - Introduction

As a boy growing up in a small town in northern Canada I remember camping out in our backyard with my brother and sister and going on trips into the mountains with our stepdad. At those times I was always fascinated when looking up at the cold dry winter night sky full of millions of twinkling stars. On each of these occasions we made amazing memories together always with the backdrop of the infinite stars. As I have gotten older and more cautious I am actually scared of flying, but I still lie awake half dreaming of what it might be like to travel the universe and visit distant planets. As I became older my responsibilities meant that I had to spend much of my time working instead of studying and so as life goes on I found myself stuck in a job that no longer excited me with no way out due to my "golden handcuffs", a mortgage and a mountain of debt to payback.

Then my daughter was born and a few years later we started to spend time together gazing at the night sky and talking about how stars are made; she asked me about the number of planets in our galaxy and a thousand other inspiring questions. These conversations brought me right back to my childhood dreams. That was when I decided I would start to pursue my passion for astronomy once more, maybe I will not get the chance to visit those distant places but I can get closer to them. Selfishly I also wanted my daughter to always remember those nights we spent together no matter what happens in the future.
