You don't need to spend a fortune to have fun

I and my wife have between us spent about £4,000 on my entire astrophotography gear.  That's not a lot in the scheme of things.  Despite being frugal, I am having loads of fun with this hobby, and although my images are a bit rough, my family and friends think they are great.

I just wanted to post this so that people don't get put off by thinking they can't afford the hobby.

Here are a few rough images that have been taken with this kind of gear:

Fiddling with my scope and captured the Wizard (Added a splash of colour)

The Bubble (Now with 11 3/4 hrs integration)

NGC7331 and Stephan's Quintet

M51 with a cheap telescope on a hot summer's night

Crab nebula

You might not need to spend a fortune (to have fun in this hobby) but it certainly helps!

Actually £4000 is a pretty decent budget that can get a very nice rig.  £2000 I would say is more of a challenge, but still doable for a very good and portable widefield setup.

I was wrong:  it looks like we have spent nearer £5,000 on this hobby so far.

FYI:  the cost and weight breakdown for my gear looks like:
