Cables create spikes

Dear Hyperstar users

I'm new in this group, and taking pictures with the Hyperstar also is new for me. I have a C9.25 EdgeHD and the Hyperstar V4. I had a lot of troubles and many unsuccessful tries because I got a wrong adapter from the shop where I bought the system. Thanks to the help of Starizona, I got the right one now and I made my first successful tries.

The problem that I encounter is the creation of spikes due to the cables running across the Schmidt-plate. Is there a possibility to avoid them?

Hello Markus, welcome to Hyperstar!

There are two main approaches to stars with Hyperstar/RASA systems.  The first is to embrace the diffraction spikes.  You can experiment, but most people find that putting the cables at 90 degree angles to one another produce pleasing spikes that resemble what one might get from a Newtonian reflector.  The second is to minimize the spikes with creative cable routing.  There are accessories that help with this.  Here is a video about this approach, and here is a seller of the accessory.

I made this cross on a 3d printer where I lay out the camera and power cables because I connect the filter wheel to the camera.

i realise you made yours, but any idea where ei could get same? (The “cross”)
