I am looking to have my Canon 60D modified for astrophotography with the h-alpha conversion sensitivity boost using both lenses and telescopes. The most important facts:
  1. I want my camera to preserve focus to infinity with lenses after the modification for widefield Milky Way astrophotography
  2. A conversion with just h-alpha and sulfur II sensitivity increase but blocking infrared light to avoid out of focus halos around stars
  3. The Best companies offering this Astro Conversion service for a clean modification with even focus across the image

I really appreciate your answers regarding this matter.  Clear Skies Ben

I've had Hap Griffen modify a couple of cameras for me a few years back. I was very happy with the quality of the work and the pricing was fair.  He replaced the cover slip with a UV/IR block filter. Focus point was retained.

I went with LifePixel after tons of research and don't regret my choice. Their service was fantastic and I had zero issues with the camera after modding.

I had my Canon T6i modified here:  https://www.astrogear.net/   The camera came back looking like new, turn around was fast.   Autofocus is still working and using autocolor in Photoshop gives me normal looking images for daytime photography.

I too did lots of research and went with Lifepixel.
Very pleased with the work. Great service.
Focus was fine post mod.
I created a custom white balance also used the camera for daylight photography also.
Sold the camera several years ago and it’s still going strong.

I had a great experience with Astrogear! It was incredibly fast and the communication was amazing. I got a Canon Rebel T6i modified and autofocus still works and everything. I highly recommend it! Hopefully this helps! Website:  astrogear.net

I'd recommend Astrogear. I sent my Rebel XT to them a few months ago and I've been taking better images since. AstroGear also does have great response times from the owner, Daniel, who answered my questions on the status of my order within 30 minutes. It's a service I'd recommend.
