Hi everyone,

i have an issue with my EQ6R-Pro+ASIAIR PLUS setup. Everything is working fine except one thing: the mount stops tracking in various situations, e.g. when a plan has finished or was aborted. Sometimes it feels just randomly. When navigating in the app i have to check tracking every few minutes if it´s still on. Autoguiding, calibrating or plate solving doesn´t work? Oh wait, yes tracking is off again. When performing a plan tracking never turned off, that´s good but the rest is really annoying me. Does anyone knows a solution for that?

Thanks in Advance & CS

Would you mind sharing the ASIAIR log? Was the star lost for some reason? Could it be a power issue, is your EQ6 plugged on the ASIAIR for power?

Good luck!

Do you mean that the toggle switch in the app moves unwanted? Or do you mean that it stays put, but the mount just doesn't track anymore?

I have the same combination of EQ6R and Asiair plus. I never experienced a problem like this.
OK, when setting up, I need to switch on the sidereal tracking of the mount, but then it behaves well throughout the night.

Two topics i did have trouble with in the past:
1) autoguider cable with a bad contact
2) too weak power supply, causing all kinds of trouble. Are you perhaps powering the mount via the asiair? In that case, I would recommend a separate power supply for the mount.

Generally speaking pausing (or stopping) a plan causes tracking to stop I reported it as a bug but unfortunately it was not fixed yet. I think this is the most irritating 'feature' in AsiAir now. I pause a plan to correct focus when I see that star size increases, but then tracking stops, so before I can correct focus I have to enable tracking again, wait for guiding to start and finally when focus is corrected I must to slew to the target.

And by the way I also have EQ6-R.

This is it right here.

It seems the if the ASIAir doesn't need the mount moving, it will turn off tracking on its own now.

If a few texts from buddies I've received and a couple early YT videos I've seen are any indicator, I believe the latest ASI Air software now has a dedicated tracking feature that *should* now allow for normal tracking outside of required guiding.  I could have totally misunderstood was I was being told, but as far as I know at the moment of writing this, the newest version of the software should help fix this super annoying quirk immediately. Fingers crossed.

I also have the EQ6-r-Pro and ASIAIR plus. The only time when tracking stops is when the scope goes to home position. It should not stop tracking if the scope is focusing a target. I constantly check the tracking and seems to be working fine. I would reset the ASIAIR and try again.
Question: does guiding also stops when the tracker is off?.

Thank you very much for your ideas. StefanL was absolutey right, i had various troubles, especially with wlan connectivity. All was fixed when i improved powerdelivery. I connected as less as possible directly to the ASIAIR and it seems to be much more stable now. Also no more tracking issues (except when a plan is paused or stopped, which is still very annoying - i also hope this gets fixed in V2).

When you pause the plan, it stops the tracking. Idk why, but I can assure you that this is no bug and that continuing the plan normally will also re plate solve the target and continue tracking. I wish it didnt do this tho, as this means wasting a few seconds plate solving, kinda annoying feature that asiair should imo fix with a software update…

That sounds awesome, I will welcome this feature very much
