Moving delicate equipment

Howdy all. I'm attaching a new camera and focus wheel to my SVSX 130 and find that it is very large and delicate. How do you folks transport your scopes? Do you leave the cameras attached or detach them for transport? Is there a quick detach adapter available that would index the camera to a particular rotation? I'm afraid that if I unscrew the camera I may lose my rotation angle night to night.
Thanks,
Dan

I suggest you should be a bit more specific what you mean with "transport". A flight or a hike require different precautions. For carrying my stuff in my backpack I rely on its sturdiness but make sure it can't move around too much in my backpack. I protect my gear from scratches by wrapping into some protective covers like this:  X-WRAP Microfibre cloth with Velcro 50 x 50 cm - e.g. for medium to large DSLR cameras, telephoto lenses or notebooks.: Amazon.de: Electronics & Photo

It is much less delicate than you think. Innumerable times, I have simply put my 80mm scope in the backseat of my car, with camera, buckled the seatbelt to hold it in place, and driven to a dark sky site. My friends have done the same with larger scopes, including a SVX130T.

Transport in my case would be a 1.5 hour drive.

Done those too…

I would say a nice pelican case with good foam (not too soft) would suffice just fine.

I actually ordered huge (fridge sized) pelican case to try to transport my CDK14, still needs to be tested!
