I decided to test an interesting minicomputer from Mele, the Quieter2Q, that costs from $199 to $330, depending on options. The Quieter2Q comes preloaded with Windows 10 Pro or Windows 11 and has a number of very useful features for astronomy. I’ve now used it for imaging sessions for six months.

I have the Quieter3 mini PC and it has performed faultlessly (hot and cold temperatures).  I wouldn't run PixInsight on it, but for telescope control using either APT or NINA it doesn't skip a beat.  USB output on its three USB ports also look very healthy; I use the 3 USB ports to control my ASI1600MM Pro, my ASI290MM mini guide camera and my Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro mount.  I discarded my powered USB hub.

Highly recommended.

*Hi Andy,
I had a similar experience, its working very well.
I don't use Pixinsight on it except to check something while out with the scope.
I suppose there will be more powerful CPUs as time goes on.

It may be worth adding to your review that it's actually smart to remove the stickers from the heat sink. This has a measurable effect on temperature. Some people may leave them on because they may like the look …

Great review as always and I wholeheartedly recommend the 2Q while the 3 is certainly a good choice too.

*That's a good point. I did remove the stickers myself.
I've also got a large heatsink with larger fins, I will try that later. Might be useful in the warm summer months.
Although, I haven't really seen any issues with heat buildup.

FWIW:  I'd be happy using the Mele Quieter 3 at ambient temperatures of around 25C.  Thankfully I don't need to in the UK as it is always below that by the time it is dark.

Also:  I remove stickers from any computer device/Camera/TV on the day I receive them … they are just advertising and add no purpose.

It rarely gets warmer than that here in Vancouver too.  In general, deep sky data capture isn't all that CPU intensive.

I agree with you about the advertising!
