Hi community,
I use a HP Notebook with Win10 where all devices are connected and software is running (Nina, PhD, Stellarium, GSServer).
I'm using a PC and a Mobile the control this notebook via remote like Chrome Remote or TeamViewer.
All works fine but not Nina. If the cover of the Notebook is closed, Nina's GUI doesn't work per remote. I can't change any setting or enter other tabs. All other Programms have no problems, all settings can be changed per remote and closed cover.
Has anyone an idea how this can be fixed?

Same thing happens- have and HP laptop also- to me and there are two possible solutions.

One is to try AnyDesk ,for some reason teamviewer freezes NINA’s interface but AnyDesk -not always- works correctly.

Another safe solution is to connect everything ,polar align ,get PHD2 to calibrate and then open NINA while remote controlling the laptop and start your process. For some reason when you open it while remote controlling for the first time , gui works fine. Same thing happens with other software to me, for example PI & APT and I could not find the source of the issue yet, something to do with the cover being shut limiting graphics card resources to specific software I guess.

Hi Dimitri,
Thank you for this ideas. I tried both, but unfortunately both don't work in my case.

Hi Werner, ich benutze die gleiche Kombination ohne Probleme. Sind denn bei dir die richtigen Einstellungen für die Energieoptionen gemacht? Man kann dort einstellen, was beim zuklappen des Deckels geschehen soll:

I have used NoMachine for controlling a Windows 10 laptop running NINA.  No problems and it can be used on a phone though I haven't specifically checked that NINA works in that configuration.  My go-to is Remote Desktop since the mini PC's permit it to work.  It's much more responsive than NoMachine but I still have NoMachine setup as a backup option.

Hallo Peter,
Ja, meine Einstellungen sind ähnlich.

Und es betrifft ja nur Nina. Alle anderen Programme lassen sich einwandfrei benutzen.

NINA's window appears all black? If so, It's a known issue with some applications, NINA included. Try RDP, works like a charm. The only problem it's that  you will need the Pro version of Windows installed on your remote computer.

Hi jewzaam,
I have now installed nomachine, remotecontrol is working with all programs but not with Nina. It is unbelievable. It's the same problem as with Chrome or TeamViewer. Closing cover and GUI is frozen. If I click on a tab f.e. Options, the GUI doesn't show a new window, but if I open the cover, GUI is switching to Options. So GUI is interactive, but don't show the results of any changing.

Oof, that has got to be super annoying!  You might want to check the NINA discord, search to see if others have posted similar problems and/or post in the right channel to see what help you can get.  I've found the group to be reasonably responsive and helpful for problems I have had in the past.  It may not be a problem specifically caused by NINA but hopefully if it's impacting NINA widely someone will have some tips on how you could work around it.  Good luck!

Hi Werner,
This may be a dumb question, but where is your remote setup? Is it off site like not excessible, or is it in your backyard? You must have access to it if you are using TeamViewer  just to activeate it. If you are just using it remotely at home, and the problum is from closeing the cover, why don't you just leive the cover open. If it's a dew or moisture issue, just cover the laptop/notebook with a towel or something to keep it dry.

Hi Bob,
My setup is in my backyard and I have access via my WLAN.
To open the cover a little bit is that what I'm doing all the time but my problem is that the monitor is running all the time and maybe the picture burns in. Unfortunately I can't start a Screensaver nor I can't turn off the monitor via the energy options in windows. He is always on. I don't know why this is so.
I found in windows a program that make the monitor dark (exception is the LED background lightning). But if I  move the mouse only one pixel it turns on again. Very difficult to handle. And I have absolutely more fun if there is a solution for Nina.

Hello Werner,
I had Problems with Nina with a MiniPC when the USB Ports were suspended when not in use. At that Point Nina either froze either was loosing connection with all USB devices. So I  just disabled the functionality ( from the advance Power Setting) . I have also put the computer to : Power Mode, not energy saving mode. That helped in My case. Maybe you could also give it a try  even more when that is just happening when the screen is closed, when usually the laptops are going into Save Energy mode.

Hi Bogdan,

I have all power functions set to OFF, incl. LAN, WLAN, Discdrives, USB-Ports etc.. Every climate activist will kill me because of that. Once the monitor is powered off after 15 Minutes wihtout action. In between I have switched to Win 11 but there is no change. Close cover as far as monitor powers off, then remote no visible work with NINA possible, all other Apps no problem.
As a solution I have made a foam wedge that holds display open 5cm above, monitor is on, no problem with remote function.

Hi Werner,
usually when you have a remote session then the Display resolution changes for the device that it is using it. Maybe that could the problem ..which happens when the Screen is closed. For me for some reason the resolution remains the same as the first computer that is logging into Remote Control for the first time. And because I use different devices, i was stuck with too big or too little widows and fonts. So I froze the resolution of the Remote Session.   In remote desktop is an option. Maybe that will work for you also.

I will give this a try this weekend. I'll come back….
