Hi there,

I am writing to you for some help.
I have just acquired a QUARK Chromosphere to install it on my SW EVOSTAR 72ED.
I can't focus.

How many extension rings did you add to be able to focus?

I installed 55mm of extension rings without success.
No information on the optimal distance in the instructions.

Before buying other extension rings, I prefer to ask you for advice smile

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Hey Thomas, congrats on the new Solar setup. I found it difficult to find focus when I first started solar photography too. Contrary to logic, finding the Sun was no easy task either and it took me about 2 hours to finally get it the first time out. I use two telescopes for Solar, the ES127 and ES102 along with the Quark. Here is a link to pics of my setup with detailed equipment. Maybe this will help you figure out your train.

Solar Rigs ES127 / ES102 ( Starman609 ) - AstroBin

Using the Tele Vue Sol Seeker makes finding the Sun much easier on future sessions.

Try a gain of Zero and an exposure time around 6 ms and just keep playing with the focus until it starts coming in.

Thanks a lot for your answer.

After reading your post, I'm thinking of adding extension rings.

With the following system, I don't have the focus:
In order :
 - TS-Optics T2 Focal Adaptor for Skywatcher Focusers with female M54x1 Thread (2.5mm)
 - TS-Optics T2 extension M42x0.75 (40 mm)
 - TS-Optics T2 extension M42x0.75 (15 mm)
 - IR/UV filter 1.25" on Quark
 - QUARK Chromosphere
 - T2 11mm ring (sold with the camera)
 - ASI174MM

So I'm thinking of taking a few extension rings to go gradually. Add ring after ring until you get the focus.

I would have liked to know an approximate distance in order to avoid buying too many rings.
