I was inspired for this topic by that other topic:
https://www.astrobin.com/forum/c/astrophotography/eaa/is-anyone-using-eaa-for-object-scouting/
When hunting for new targets I usually search for mosaics in my region of interest on Astrobin to get an idea of the targets available to me.
I then download the mosaic, load it into photoshop and then create a selection that matches the field of view of my Telescope in that specific mosaic.
Then I try to find the most pleasing composition for my shot by moving and rotating the selection.
I could do the same thing on telescopius.com but the quality and detail level of some of the mosaics available on Astrobin is much higher than what telescopius or Stellarium or whatever can offer. And when you do not yet know what you search for then navigation can get a little painfull.....
A dream come true would be to integrate mosaics with proper license in Nina, that would save the step of building the selection in Photoshop.
Techically this is likely not that demanding but there is very little data that is properly tagged to get reused (CC-BY-NC-SA or CC-BY-NC or CC-BY or CC-BY-SA should fit the bill I guess....)
What do you guys think? Did I miss an obvious choice for getting framing (mostly of Narrowband Images) right? Especially when it is about some whispy nebulosity the usual suspects fail miserably.
Is there anybody out there that has some large mosaics that can be used under CC license?
