When I read the news for the first time today I thought it was some kind of joke. I looked on other news website and it seems that is no joke: today is the day a picture of a black hole will be released to the public. I tried to get Salvatore to put it up as an IOTD the day it was released, certainly as a special case.  But alas, he said if EHT released the data (all 5 petabytes???) and someone processed it and posted the image, only then would the image be considered for an IOTD.  Personally, I thought it deserved special treatment smile
