The topic of imaging from Bortle 6 or more type skies comes up a bit.
What has been found to be the best filter to use?

I have found two that look good.   Better than the LPAS or UHC-S filters that I own by the looks of it.

The hottest one should be the latest released Triad Ultra Quad Band. Looks pretty good. Check on CN for test shots.

Hiya Glenn.  The previous statement is likely correct the Triad Ultra Quad is likely the best option but very expensive. However, Have a look at my B33 Horse Head shot. It was shot. It was shot with HA but the color componant was shot with Cyclops Optical Duo Narrow band filter. Both were shot from my backyard Bortyl class 8. The one problem I've found with the Duo Narrow BAnd is there's virtually no blue component allowed to pass though. OUr B33 shot I've added the blue back in where it was missing with Photoshop. But if your shooting more or less a straight emission nebula it's a good option. The Cyblops Optical Multispectral might be better then the Duo Narrow band bc of the blue allowed to pass. I'm not sure if this option would work for me in Borytal Class 8 and all the LED streetlights.  smile

.I have never been disappointed with the Triad Ultra Quad. Yes it is pricey, but it performs very well and is consistent.  I have a few image here on Astrobin taken with it.

I have the STC Astro DUO filter and have been really impressed with its performance from my Bortle 8 sky. I've also tried the Optolong L-eNhance filter but didn't think it performed as well. I have recently got hold of the Optolong L-eXtreme filter but have yet to try this out (too many nights of cloudy skies…smile. I have quite a few examples of images taken with the DUO filter in my gallery.

I have the Optolong L-Pro, IDAS NBZ (10nm) & I just picked up the Antlia ALP-T (5nm) dual band filters. I love all 3 and continue to use them between 2 setups. I did a comparison between the Antlia and the NBZ filters that was very subtle but I feel is worth the extra $. It really depends on what your goal is. If you're going after Ha and Oiii rich nebulae, the Optolong L-Ultimate is your friend. If you want to mimic full narrowband imaging, you can add an Oii, Sii dual narrowband filter like the Askar Color Magic
