Backyard EOS it’s not free but it’s only about 49.00 US works well I use it exclusively. They have a version for Nikon as well.

You mean "Astrophotography tool"? I recommand it too, cheap, very complete and easy to handle with. I use it to control my DSLR and the dizzering (through PHD Guiding). The  free version maybe sufficient to begin.

APT (Astro Photography Tool) provides a free demo which is truly useful (i.e. no time limit and has almost all features). It does not require any registration. I have used it to control my DSLR and AF lenses. It does everything I need. Now I use the app which came with my SA mini and focus manually with a Bahtinov mask. As far as I know, BackyartEOS/Nikon requires registration smile  to download the trial version.

Yes, APT is a great tool. Will give you everything you need, and probably more. It is really worth a trial.
