Has anyone ever used their Star 71 on a SkyGuider Pro?
I have both a Star 71 and a ZenithStar 61 [w/ Flat61]. Going to the Atacama in October; trying to figure out what to take. Taking one of my ASI ZWO 1600MM cooled with filter drawers for narrowband nebulae imaging. I also have a Canon 70-200mm zoom f/2.8,and adapters for the ZWO. But finding exact focus at 200mm has been a nightmare. So I am leaning strongly toward using one of the small WO scopes [big WO fan, also having a GT 102 and a FLT 132]. The two small scopes weigh almost the same when you add the Flat61 to the ZS61. So I may as well use the Star 71 as it’s a complete Astrograph and I have had excellent results shooting narrowband with it.
Caveat: I am a dome rat; i.e., I never worked in the field, just built an observatory right after I retired and all my imaging is done there. I avoid LP and Moon issues by only working in narrowband. I mention this to say I don’t have much experience or comfort in the field. Therefore I expect a much better chance of success on the trip if I am using equipment I know and am comfortable with.
Note: I am also taking a 35mm and 14mm [for the APS-C modified Canon T6i] to do Milky Way and Skyscape work.
