Does anybody else have problems with the polemaster software with Win 11 Pro? Since I´ve got a new Laptop (Acer Enduro Win 11 Pro) the software of my Polemaster doesn´t work useable anymore. The data transfer seems to lag extremely. So there only sometimes comes a new image (aprox. every 10-20 seconds).
Sometimes it seems, that the cam delivers no image at all.
The hardware should be ok. When I connect the Polemaster to Sharpcap, the Cam works properly.
Does anybody have the same problems, or even better: Does anybody know how to fix?

If you have sharpcap, just connect with sharpcap, make sure location settings are correct and then use sharpcap’s polar alignment wizard.
you won’t go back to the manual way.

also try latest QHY all in one driver package.

Thank you for your support, Greg.

Unfortunately, the suggested driver package did not solve this issue. :-(

Sharpcap´s polar alignment wizard works with the main telescope and cam, right? so in this scenario I do not need the polemaster?

Sharpcap can use the normal guidescope or the polemaster camera.
So just connect and adjust polar alignment before even powering up the guide camera and imaging camera.
the advantage if you already have it, is it doesn't need focusing and you don't even need a guidescope
(in the case of an off-axis guider or a high-end mount where you might not even guide because you made a tracking model)
The main imaging camera might not be fast enough which is the advantage of a guide camera or the polemaster.

I will try this next time :-) Thank you, Greg.

I have two setups, where I used the Polemaster up to this issue:

1. TS Optics UNC25410 or Celestron C925 on Celestron CGX-L with OAG
2. Skywatcher Esprit 80 on Ioptron CEM25P with OAG

So in both cases, I have no guide scope. I am exighted, if this will work :-).

I have the same issue re C9.25

It's also something you can do early and get it over and done with before setting everything else up.

I just have sharpcap for polar alignment (occasional planetary but I find Firecapture has a slight edge as it seems to do better planetary guiding.

I now use NINA and yes, I know about the plugin - But I just think something bolted to the RA axis on the mount, no focus issues and just works with sharpcap.
I'm at about 33 deg latitude (in Sydney, Oz) but still click on the atmosphere correction (going by memory so whatever its called) and make sure the GPS data is correct beforehand.
I also orientate the mount with a compass stick (compass mounted on wood about a metre away from the metal mount) before dark.
I also try to level the mount. Not that polar alignment needs a level mount but the instructions from Sharpcap re up/down or left/right rely on it being level as if not level, the instruction would need to be up but over a bit depending on how out of level you are and that would be impractical.

Good luck

Hi @Mathias Radl

I use a Dell laptop with win11 and also PoleMaster and till now I haven't experience any problem with it. It works in the same way as it used to do in win10 (in my case at least).

Have you looked for drivers update? It's the only thing I can think of.

I'm sorry.

There's a hack-fix that works for some problems where the refresh seems to hang in the Polemaster software.

#1: Find a long AVI video file and have it locally on your machine. (Don't play a video on the internet or Youtube for example).
#2: Play the local video with a free player like VLC https://www.videolan.org/in a background window while running Polemaster software.

For some reason, this appears to fix the freezes which can be very annoying especially when you are on the final looping screen trying to center the final target box.

I no longer use Polemaster and haven't tried this on Windows 11, but this fix worked on Windows 10. Appears to be a faulty video driver from QHY that causes this due to a problem where it seems to timeout/lockup the refresh unless there's an active process thread playing a video.

Since QHY is very poor at listing driver versions and uses an ambiguous name of "LatestDriverVersion" and "PreviousDriverVersion" with zero change log information regarding what is fixed between versions, it is hard to tell if this problem was ever solved.

Maybe this will work for you as well? Hoping it will!
