NGC 4288 with long focal length. - Forums

I dont know how reasonable of a request this is but lets give it a shot. I shot M106 at 925FL. I caught this galaxy in the corner of my frame

📷 NGC_4288.jpegOriginally I thought it was pretty interesting but when I googled it and nothing showed up I got kind of excited honestly, even NASA has largely ignored it, maybe for good reasons. I wanted to reach out to the community and see if anyone has ever imaged it with a long focal length before? Is anyone willing to dedicate some of their time to do so? I thought it was interesting and the fact I was able to pull Ha from it too was pretty cool. Is my Ha real or an artifact? I dont know at this focal length.

When I google it there is a lot showing up.
If you search in the SIMBAD database, there are a bunch of scientific papers also showing up.

I mean I am looking for good images of it. Im not saying I discovered it, I just cant find any high resolution images of it

Ah, OK. Well, this is the fate of most small or distant galaxies.
It seems there might starforming going on inside.

Sorry I didnt make it more clear. I just was curious about it and wanted to “see” more but dont have the reach for it

That galaxy is less than 2 arcminutes across so unless Hubble or JWST has imaged it you’re going to have a hard time finding a high resolution image

There’s public data from the 2.5m Sloan Foundation RC on the MAST website. Here’s an unedited i r g combination. This is probably the highest resolution data out there at this time.
