My name is Mihai, I’m from Bucharest Romania and I’ve been doing visual astronomy since 2012. After 9 years of visual astronomy I went into astrophotography in 2021 after getting some Second hand gear from a local SH market in Romania. My first imaging scope was a RC8 Carbon so i started with something pretty complicated. I still have this scope and it works really well today. Most of my gear is second hand and I like doing this kind of business.
Now I also own a Televue Refractor, NP101. And I’m planning a 16” Dobson.
Since 2021 I’ve been a member of Bucharest Astroclub and I lifted up the club thru various stuff, the most important one being a remote observatory in Alfatar, Bulgaria, where i still work on perfecting with fellow club members. There we have installed a Lacerta Photonewton 10” with a APS-C mono sensor which gives beautiful images.
I will add some of my pics from these 5 years and I hope to find people here where I can do collaborations, maybe actually do some imaging and visual together in some dark skies. I’m a big sucker for searching darker skies and I like to find places, cabins where there is no light pollution.
I’m not a big fan of images taken by someone else(Telescope Live). I feel a more big connection with what my gear produces, or gear installed by me. I understand why people like the idea at least of photographing the southern hemisphere, but i’m not a fan, until now.
