Askar 151PHQ or Sky-Watcher Esprit 150EDX?

Which would you go for for remote imaging?

I’m not sure how the new Esprits will be but I assume top notch. Build quality on the Askars can be variable but I’ve seen some phenomenal results with the 151PHQ.

I would get the PHQ. I’ve had great results with my Triplets over the years, but the quads are here and proven now.

Besides, there is nothing to add. I needed to add an FR/FF to my 130mm Triplet to get the picture the ads promised. It also dropped the telescope from the 910mm F7, down to 728mm F5.8. So what I thought I was buying wasn’t quite what I had hoped. I’m happy with my present results, but feel the ad writers lied about it.

From my understanding a quad doesn’t need anything added or subtracted. I’d get the quad, hands down. You get what you’re paying for.

Had to make the same decision recently and went with 151phq. I’ve used both scopes before and sold them due to personal reasons, and now I was buying one back. I havent tried the edx but I did use esprit 150 before. Esprit certainly have better color correction and tighter stars, but in real world conditions, these dont really make a noticeable of difference in terms of the final image produced. Color correction difference is eliminated with blurX, and resolution difference, I was not able to see a difference from my skies for 151phq and esprit150.

But 151phq has huge benefit in terms of imaging. Being a quad and allowing a ton of backfocus distance so you can use efw+oag-l+caa all together. Using an oag did show difference for me at least for 1000mm+ focal ranges, so I dont prefer having a guidescope. And remote imaging, it’s good to have that flexibility to rotate to the angle you desire.
