With the proliferation of various strain wave gear mounts, I was wondering why any cycloidal gear designs haven't shown up.
I am an electrical engineer by trade, so please humor me if I am wrong but isn't a cycloidal gearbox supposed to be more compact, more robust, more efficient, have better torque at low speeds and be easier to manufacture, while being almost zero backlash? Is it the vibration characteristics? Is it the material cost?
