I am a Canadian expat living now at the bottom of the world. I've always loved the night sky (mum had a telescope when I was a kid), and admired the astro photos my friend took with his DSLR and 6" newt. I finally took the plunge last year with my DSLR and a tripod, no tracker, just a lot of really short subs. That spiralled very quickly into my current setup (SGP, RC 51, guider) and with a new mount on the way (HEQ5 Pro) ready for a bigger scope. I love every part of this amazing hobby…the technical challenges and quirks of good data capture, the quiet nights alone under the stars, the first autostretch after integration, and the feeling of pride when you show your friends the eerie, beautiful world beyond our atmosphere.
