ASI294MM Fan No Longer Working

Hi  everyone,

I realised tonight that my ASi294MM (Pro) fan isn't working anymore (and might have been a while too, doh!). Brought indoor and after taking darks it felt quite warm at the touch and the darks (300s) were unusually noisy compared to previously taken ones. The fan should have been running at full blast but not a whisper. Pretty sure the fan is dead and so it is my calibrations. Does anyone know a source for a replacement of these fans?

Thanks

I would make some measurements of the case and start looking on Amazon for 12v brushless fans. If you can’t find a match then it’s time to go to commercial electronics suppliers or gasp, ZWO themselves. I bet you can find one though, I’d get two.

You can get the ZWO replacement from multiple sources; for example https://agenaastro.com/catalog/product/view/id/7453/s/zwo-fan-for-cool-pro-camera/

I had the fan in my ZWO ASI2600MM die on me last autumn. I had bought from First Light Optics so I contacted them and they sourced a replacement from ZWO for me. Hopefully your vendor can do the same for you. It didn’t take too long to come so far as I remember. Good luck.

Thanks all. Ordered one from a Far East supplier, let's see how long it takes these days…

I know you already got one but for anyone else or future issues, Digikey. Best source for electronics and very fast shipping. I have spent a small fortune on that site.

I literally just went through this with my ZWO-294 mc pro. If the new fan doesnt work, it might be an issue with the motherboard. ZWO has a camera repair service that you can send your camera and they will take care of it. The camera warranty is for 2 years, or you can pay if you bought used like I did. It cost me $280 total for parts, labor, and shipping. Plus the repair has a warranty.

An aside, we were presented with a new Safety Slogan (decades ago) of “Take Two for Safety”. Point being take minutes to make sure everything was locked out, tagged out.

Before 10 minutes was up in the Safety Meeting another phrase cropped up, Take two, they’re small….

Funny the pablum that surfaces decades later.

High Point Scientific has them.

You better hurry though. If you want to take two there is only 2 left.
