Prism Deep Trojan detection issue with Pixinsight version download

Hello to the forum

I bought Prism Deep from Syqon for SetiAstro suit and loved it.However i only work in Pixinsight so as soon as it is released i bought that as well(as i had to import to Suite and then back to PI).

Here is the problem. The downloaded files for PI seem to have a Trojan. Windows will not-for the life of me- let me keep the .exe file more than a few seconds and then deletes the .exe file once extracted from the downloaded files.

Any insights on this from uses or the Syqon team?

TIA

Stavros

Got the same problem, I reached out to Syqon. Here’s their answer, it worked for me, hope this helps you, it did for me.

Thank you for reaching out and for providing such detailed information regarding the issue you are experiencing with Prism for PixInsight.

I would like to sincerely apologize for the frustration this has caused. The issue you are encountering with Windows 11 Defender is what is known as a "false positive." Because Prism is a relatively new software, it has not yet built up a high enough reputation score with antivirus databases, leading Windows Defender to mistakenly flag the .exe file as a threat.

To resolve this and prevent Defender from deleting or quarantining the file, you will need to add an exclusion. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.

2. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings.

3. Scroll down to Exclusions and select Add or remove exclusions.

4. Click Add an exclusion and select Folder.

5. Select the folder where you have extracted (or intend to extract) the Prism files.

Once this exclusion is set, you should be able to extract the zip file and run the .exe without Windows Defender interfering.

We appreciate your patience while the software gains more recognition with security providers. Please let us know if you need any further assistance getting everything up and running.

Best regards,

Lara

One more thing, make. Sure you put the zip file into the folder you want to use as the folder location you point the script to to run the EXE file, and unzip it there, it is the only way this will work after you create the exclusion folder.

Glad you got it fix. I was definitely perplexed when it happened cause it worked when I first set it up, but then today, nothing. Trying unzip the file got an immediate response from defender. Took a while to figure out what was going on. Decided to ask the developer, didn’t expect a response today, but they got right back to me. That really gives you a lot of confidence in a developer when they break their neck to help you out.
