Stacking multi-telescope imaging data with different focal lengths and sensors

Hi everyone! 👋

I have a question for the DSC team (and anyone working on collaborative imaging projects).

If you’re willing to share, I’d love to learn a bit about how you approach stacking data from different telescopes and setups. For example, combining data with:

  • different focal lengths

  • different pixel scales

  • different cameras/sensors

Do you typically resample everything to a common scale before integration, or process datasets separately and combine later?

And how do you handle differences in the field of view when mixing full-frame and smaller sensors?

I completely understand if parts of your workflow are something you prefer to keep within the team — even general guidance would be greatly appreciated. 😀

Limited experience here, but I am combining data from my FLT132 and my CarbonStar200. I stack the data for each scope separately. I then remove gradients from the each of the results. I then register the gradient-corrected images - which in PixInsight resamples the data. And then stack the registered results.

I’m also interested in whether WBPP can handle data from different cameras and focal lengths together.

While I use WBPP, I find APP better at this. That said, I know WBPP can handle such combos, but it’s not so obvious. If you Google (AI) you question, I believe it will explain the WBPP process.

I also thought that APP would be better, but I just wondered if anyone uses WBPP like this.
