IMG-20260315-WA0004.jpgHi

I took this image with a 250pds,on AZEQ6 mount in Az mode. Full roi. No Barlow. 100 fps. 2ms exposure. Gain 300. I has to use 2ms to make bands appear, otherwise overexposed. 17000 frames, 10% stacked in autostakkert. Wavelets in registax. Affinity Photo 2 for making GRS appear. It wasn’t visible after autostakkert or registax. It’s my second only attempt, better than my first. I had trouble with my tracking, hence why large roi used. But fps was enough in my opinion. I used an ir/uv cut filter.

I tried to focus by eye. I don't think my tracking issue was helping, as Jupiter was drifting towards edge of frame throughout capture with sharpcap.

Oh, jupiter was around 50° or higher. Seeing was average.

Any advice on improving.

Equatorial mount with good PA is key in having a good crack at it as it allows for critical focusing. Do not bother with it when seeing isn't good. Also, use a barlow 2x at least. Scope also needs to have good optics, thermally in equilibrium and carefully collimated.

Andrea pretty much covered it. You didn’t say what camera you’re using but I’m sure you are wayyyyy under sampled, thus the advice for a Barlow.
