Maximising Star Adventurer 2i

Morning folks,

What with the weather being so bad in the uk at the moment I want to maximise imaging time on top of my main rig.

I already own the star adventurer mini but have just bought the SA2i 2nd hand and want to guide and auto focus even if the guiding is just in the RA.

I have a pi unit with Stellarmate on it but that is just very frustrating to use despite the interface looking the part it’s just not reliable.

Has anybody but a mini rig like this and had success. Below is the imaging setup I’ll use, a. 500D, Sigma 105, eaf and asi120mm.

Not using the Asi533mc pro on this setup, the dslr preview in autofocus has a strange preview where it looks like it detects light but the resolution is way off and monochrome. Tried it with the asiair and it’s better but still b&w preview.

Has anybody built a system on this SA that works reliable?

Thanks

Campbell

Not exactly alike but my portable rig is driven by a laptop (or miniPC) using APT for DSLR and mount control. I don't need guiding since my PE is tiny, much below the image scale I get with the 135/300mm lenses. APT is soooo much better than anything else I have tried including NINA when using a DSLR.

Thanks for the reply, APT is a great bit of software, I used to use it and it was very reliable. I suppose I’ve been using the asiair and find it just so reliable and compact but just feeling too tight to buy a second one so tried using Stellarmate.
