I'm new to this journey, what are PN's as mentioned in today's IOTD messages?

Usually PN stands for Planetary Nebula.

iff you have  a profgram like Carte du ciel  or stellarium you can find them ,but they are very small normally.

you will need a big scope to get details,a mono camera is also  prevered.
