I got a notice to update PHD2 today and the best thing I can say about it was that it reminded me that PHD2 was there! PHD2 is so reliable, easy to use and accurate that it’s just easy to forget about it. I can’t think of a better thing to say about a software package than that.

Thanks Bruce and Andy and the rest of the team for what you’ve done. To make reliable software that is clearly documented and easy to use - even the first time - is a real accomplishment.

I’ve been a phd fan since 2008 or 2009, I was guiding through maximdl prior to that… phd2 is flawless!!

I don't like updating stuff.

However as its phd2 I probably will, as its phd2.

Like many others I'm sure, I'm incredibly grateful to the developers, as I've relied on it utterly for my two years in this hobby.

Absolutely grateful to Bruce, Andy, and the PHD team.

They provide us outstanding software free of charge and help folks constantly with outstanding support.
They have straightened me out more than once!

I am a better astrophotographer because of PHD and these dedicated folks and I’m very thankful!

Appreciate that you reminded us Kevin!

And we shouldn't forget Craig Stark who wrote the original PHD and then gave it to the community.

I removed PHD2, then replaced it with PHD2 V2.6.14, which is how I currently “update” things. And so far it has been working fine for me.

I think that version is the latest release. Like TiffsAndAstro I don’t like grabbing updates until they’ve matured a bit. Let somebody else debug the update.

My Remove and Replace strategy does have its perils. all the setting up and a new Dark Library is needed and that’s a bit arduous at times. But since my remote equipment is only ~75 feet away, it’s doable.

I just checked the website and I believe 2.6.14 is the latest release.

I haven’t checked but the new version appears to do Multi-Star guiding by default, too. At least it did Multi-Star on my laptop at the mount.
