I have two location (one for mostly old acquisitions). I added the old location’s Bortle value; I was asked if I wanted to apply this Bortle value for all 33 acquisitions at that location. I responded ‘yes’ and it did so (I verified 10 or so of the images). Great, that’s what I expected.

I went to my current location and changed the Bortle value (and saved). I was not asked to apply it to all acquisitions at this (the current) location and it did not change any Bortle value on any images at this (current) location.

I went to my most current image and edited it’s acquisition for the Bortle values. I was not asked to change all image acquisitions Bortle values for this location. The Bortle value was added on the image I edited, but not for any anther for this location.

I tried several more times to add and save the Bortle value - to no avail. I do not want to go through 170+ image acquisitions (for the last 6 or so years) to add the Bortle value. The email (What's New on Astrobin - Feb 2026) indicated I did not have to make repetitive edits, but I can’t seem to get that functionality.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Jim,

I will look into what happened in this specific case to see if there's a bug, an edge case I missed, or something else.

I will get back to you shortly when I have more information.

Thank you,

Salvatore

Hi Salvatore,

I am sorry to say that I have mis-reported this issue. I noticed today in the in the Location section the ‘Apply to acquisitions’ selection button. (See red circled in the image.) I did not see it initially - it was probably there when you released this ‘Explore by Theme’ feature. I likely just missed it.

Locations_Bortle value.jpgIn looking again today, I now see it. I applied it; and all of the images / acquisitions for that location are now updated to Bortle 3 - as the feature is described.

Again, sorry for the misleading information. I regret time you may have spent investigating. Feel free to close or delete this post.

p.s. I redacted my exact location coordinates from the image - if you are wondering why the are blacked out.

Hi Jim,

that's actually something I added in response to your issue but you noticed faster than I could let you know about it.

Glad it's sorted out!
