Hey guys!

I have the ZWO AM5N, ASI533 MM Pro, ASIAIR Plus, 120mm Mini, and dew heater for the Carbonstar 150mm reflector. Is the Bluetti AC70 (1000W and 768Wh) capable to power this setup comfortably? What other batteries do you guys suggest for a setup that is close to mine?

Thanks.

I use a Bluetti 716Wh battery to power my rig (model EB70s) My setup is identical to yours except I don’t need a dew heater. I comfortably get about 10 to 12 hours out of this power source, which for me is two nights observing. So, you should be just fine…

The three most power hungry components are: Sensor cooling, dew heater and power bricks. The rest does not really matter.

You can influence the amount of sensor cooling and dew heating. And power bricks are best avoided completely. Instead, use the 12V output, or USB-PD output with trigger cable.

With a little bit of care you can probably get a full 24h of use from the power station you suggest. I have always used the GoalZero power stations. My Yeti 400 is about half your capacity and was able to run a rig probably a bit more demanding than yours for about 12-14h. Recently replaced it with the Yeti 500 and on purpose did not go bigger as not needed and just extra weight/size.

I use Bluetti EB3A 600W 268WH power station with a very similar setup. This station conveniently has two 5521 power outputs, exactly the same as ASIAIR, AM5 and all ZWO cameras. It comfortably powers the whole rig for ~8hrs. It doesn’t take much usually, the device itself shows 19-20W of power during tracking and shooting.

At the same time, I have troubles with ASIAIR sudden restarts, which may or may not be related to the quality of power supply. I am still investigating the issue, but beware about quality of power cables to not even think about this

Get a cheap lifepo battery, put it in a box, add whatever connectors you use. Anderson connectors handle basically everything, but I keep some usbs for convenience. I normally use a 40ah but have a 100ah for longer outings using a AM5N, Air, dew heater, 2600mc or mm with accessories. This is significantly less expensive than an off the shelf option and works just as well for imaging. Add a solar panel and you can run for days and days like this.
