I’m taking a close look at this new super-fast OTA by Sharpstar, the SCA310, the big, fast brother of the SCA260.

From what I’ve read so far, it seems to offer several advantages over similar-aperture Newtonians:

Compact design

Wide backfocus range

Corrected, flat field

Has anyone had the chance to test it yet? I’m really excited to hopefully try it soon. My previous experience with the brand has been excellent. I currently own an FRA300 and a 13028HNT—both great OTAs.

Many thanks for your insights.

Best wishes,

Aleix Roig

Interesting sounding scope but the sca260 had a lot of bad reviews and while i have no personal experience i would stay away from it

And at that $8k price, I’d definitely wait for some independent, non sponsored reviews.

Let’s wait for the early adopters to post their initial thoughts about it.

For what it’s worth, I have the SCA260 and am quite happy with the images.

Definitely a wait and see at that price.

Yes, that’s a not price point to purchase without reading some reviews.

I heard good things from the V2 version of the SCA260.

As for the 310, I would wait and see how the first users fair with this one for sure .

Just looking at this on their website, whopping 60% central obstruction - also comes with an M48 adaptor on the 3.35” focuser which seems and odd choice.
