The phone maybe has manual exposure time and you can see life on the phone screen how the Moon becomes more and more detailed.
You will need a very short exposure time.
You can ask your dad or mom to help and watch the videos.

The main thing to remember is that the Moon is an object in full daylight even though you see it at night, it’s full illuminated by the sun. Exposures needed to capture its details will be the same as you use to shoot regular photos during the day. If you want to get photos of say the full moon over a landscape would be to wait until the moment just before the sun sets, There are a few minutes when both the landscape and the moon are the same brightness so you can get details in both because both are still in daylight.
Have fun and try different things to see what you get!
Hi Adam, Happy New Year to you! It’s really cool to see you into this amazing hobby at such a young age!
In addition to the other fantastic advice in this thread, I would consider capturing the moon during the crescent or gibbous phases as that offers good contrast and detail of the moon. You can find a moon phase calendar here to help you and your parents can plan what night works best for a photo session.
Best of luck and clear skies buddy!!
