OOUK ODK10 mirror spacing & corrector placement

Hello,

I acquired an ODK10 from an German Observatory for a very good price and received it today. It’s used and has seen better days, but I want to see if I can make it work.

Mechanically it looks OK and the Observatory fixed the weird unstable cork ring which made the primary wobble and tilt. It is more stable, but not 100% fixed in my opinion, but I will take this on later.

Before I decide if I want to invest time and money into it, I want to check the collimation and mirror spacing with a ronchi eyepiece under the stars. I am currently searching for more information or a drawing of the ODK10 design to have a reference.

Unfortunately the observatory did not send any documents, which is okay because they have the scope for ages.

Maybe there are ODK10 users which can help out? Do you have any manuals or drawings of your scope? I checked the OOUK website, but could not find anything related.

I might try out to contact OOUK directly or an OOUK dealer here in Germany, but I don’t expect much over the next christmas days.

Thank you.

Regards

Respectful

OOUK are well known to be rude by default. They make a point of honour to piss past customers off, big time.  At any rate the Dall-Kirkham isn't very sensitive to spacing, luckily.

I know those stories about OOUK, but I am not interested in this thread to gossip about them or their customer service.

The observatory grants me 4 weeks to test the scope, which was also a reason I bought it, so I want to make the best out of it.

Since you are going to contact them you better be warned… And they aren't just stories, they are actual hard facts. Anyways, best of luck.

Tilt, field centering or collimation.
I see a lot of posts where someone has less than perfect stars in a corner. The usual answer is that it's tilt so I'm trying to understand this better. In thinking it through, I would expect that in a simple optical system, meaning no reducer...
