I am just getting started in Astro photography I am using  zwo 183mc pro using a nikon F2.8 14 to 24 mm lens to get as wide angle and as much color as I can.
I have read that the L-eXtreme filter only passes 10 percent of the H alpha below F5 . Should I be using RGB filters?  Anny suggestions please.

You shouldn't use any filter except maybe a LP one (such as L-PRO) at f/2.8.

"as much colour as I can"
yea, that might not happen with an L-Extreme filter. Don't get me wrong. It's an incredible filter, but it is a very narrow filter, which will only allow Hydrogen and Oxygen through. So your images will contain those two elements, which will mainly be Red and Blue.

If you want more colour, the Optolong L-Pro might be better. it will give more natural colours to your image.
But I don't know if the L-Pro is any better at F2.8.

And, yes. From what I can find, is that the L-Extreme isn't great at low apertures. It's really made for F5 scopes.
I have no idea what filter would work well at this apertures.. maybe look at what filters people are using who own RASA telescopes (F2). Or consider stopping down to F4-5 on your lens.
