I was planning to take pictures tonight, but unfortunately ran into an issue with my Celestron NexStar Evolution 6.

I use CPWI for alignment and NINA for imaging. While the mount was slewing to the target, my PC lost connection to the mount. Before I could react and power it off, it started making loud, grinding motor noises, as if it were stuck but still trying to move.

My image train didn’t bump into the mount. I had enough clearance, though it’s possible that a cable got snagged.

Now, whenever I power on the mount, I can hear the motor briefly run and the mount slightly turn. If I perform an alignment, after a while it starts slewing on its own, just a small movement every 10–15 seconds.

Has anyone run into this issue before? Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot it, or does it sound like the motors (or motor control board) might be damaged?
