CAA requires 4 attempts to move each evening before working normally

I use the CAA for about half year now together with the ASIAIR Plus. Every evening when I turn the setup on, it takes the CAA 4 tries before it actually rotates. After that, it moves all night. It has been always 3 attempts that it doesn’t rotate and the fourth time it rotates. When I forget to move it three times before starting my plan, it will not rotate to its position but the plan is being executed nonetheless.

Anyone know what this is about or what to do about it?

Thanks!

Are you taking an image and plate solving it? The CAA doesn’t know where it is until you do so.

I manually change the rotation in the CAA menu in the ASIAIR. So I make 4 small rotation changes and then have to plate solve, before I can start the plan.

I suspect the CAA gets stuck and needs four movements before it can actually rotate. Clockwise or counterclockwise does not matter.

When all else fails, read the manual. 😀

5.1.2 App settings

Before you start using the mobile app to control CAA, please complete the following steps to ensure the best experience:

(1) Plate solving and synchronization: It is recommended to plate solve and synchronize in preview mode before using CAA. [Preview mode ① --- click to shoot ② --- click to plate solve after taking the picture ③ ]

One thing the steps don’t include is to synchronize, which would be step 4. It mentions synchronization, but doesn’t include it in the steps. I include synchronizing in my startup procedure as step 4.
