Damaged USB 3.0 port on 2600MC Pro camera repair suggestions needed

I had a cable management issue a couple of nights ago. Unfortunately, I think the USB 3.0 port on my 2600MC Pro is damaged. The cable was severely pulled to the side and now I’m getting exposure failures. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get the camera repaired?

I tried plugging in a USB A to the 2.0 ports, and my ASIAIR won’t recognize the camera. Tried some searching and not finding much out there.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance - PJ

May sound funny, but check out a high end camera repair shop. They are equipped and skilled at replacing intricate components such as SD card slots, etc.

Send it back for repair or replace the USB3 port yourself, if you have the skills.

Hey Patrick,

First off, sorry to hear about your camera. If you don’t mind me asking, where about do you live? From your BIO and ICE Hockey statements, perhaps Canada? If you lived close to me here in Texas, perhaps we could take a look at the camera and see about opening it up and replacing the USB 3.0 port, soldering in a new one. If you are not close to Houston or Texas then you could do this yourself if you are willing to and if not then I would suggest sending it to ZWO or as previously suggested, a qualified local camera shop? Local shop means you would not have to wait weeks for shipping, there and back.

Good luck and clear skies,

David J.

You could give Spencer’s camera and photo a try. They’re in Utah. They do DSLR modification and I contacted them recently to repair the usb plug on my old Nikon D810a so I can sell it. They said that would be no problem at all. I know a DSLR is not a dedicated camera but it is just a USB repair. They are at spencercamera.com you can always call them to find out. They were very helpful for me.

I had to replace the power plug on my 2600mc. I just found a generic part on the internet for like $1 and a local fix it shop soldered the new one on for $50. I assume the USB plugs are the same, find the part and someone local can easily fix it. The cameras are so simple to take apart and work on.

Thank you for all of the suggestions! Going to talk to Woodland Hills Telescope tomorrow to see if they have a place they recommend.
