I proposed the following request to Grok 3 AI:

“My location is sulpur lousiana in the US. Please recommend ideal astronomical objects to photograph. My equipment is a 11" SCT with a focal length of 1730 mm. My OSC astrophotography camera has a cmos chip that is 13 mm by 13mm with 3.6micron pixels. I'm primarily interested in galaxies or emission nebula.”

The Grok AI gave the following response in the link below:

Hello, Kirk. It’s a pretty fantastic AI chat tool. I first heard of it on Astro Vagabond’s YouTube channel. It is a useful tool, but it looks like your search queries are limited. After you have exhausted your number of search queries, a subscription is required. It is very promising.

I’m generally a huge proponent against the use of AI/LLM’s in astrophotography research, but this response actually kinda surprises me. AI is getting better.

The thing to me is that this is basically the same thing that websites like Telescopius already do for you. “AI” has its place, and sure it works for this too, but it’s not some miraculous new thing to be able to get recommendations based on location, telescope, object, etc.

It is a well presented result. As Quinn mentioned, Telescopius and other sites/apps like Sky Safari, KStars, etc, have been providing this capability for a long time.
